Function
Up to 3 knives can be inserted at the top of the MD3S. The UV disinfection device was designed based on processes in cutting/slaughterhouses.
Blades up to max. 230mm can be completely disinfected (up to the shaft transition). The entire process of cleaning and UV disinfection (4log) is completed within just 30 seconds.
The knives are cleaned and disinfected at the same time: The knife is placed in the MD3S immediately after the process has been completed. The integrated flushing cleans the surface of the knives, while the built-in UV-C lamps ensure effective germ reduction. The tests carried out by customers and laboratories confirmed better and more constant values than sterilization with hot water. With this method, the disinfection is based on a purely physical effect, with UV disinfection no chemicals are used.
The built-in and waterproof UV-C emitters are completely shielded, no light penetrates to the outside. The UV-C lamps switch off automatically when the cover is opened. Personal safety is therefore guaranteed at all times. Neither scalding nor inhalation of peroxide acids can occur. Due to the sealed design, less water vapor is produced during production and by rinsing off the fats, they do not stick to the cutting surface of the blades and the UV disinfection is not affected. Our system has been tested several times and is a certified alternative to the usual hot water pools and definitely a more sustainable variant of chemical processes.
Equipment
The UV device made of stainless V2A stainless steel is equipped with our special TRT systems (2 pieces).
The waterproof UV-C emitters of the MD3S are located inside the housing, the flaps on the knife slots close automatically (gravity), material fatigue of e.g. springs is thus excluded and the UV-C light is also completely shielded.
In addition, the system can only be operated when the cover is properly closed. As soon as this is opened, the radiator and flushing water switch off automatically.
The functionality of the spotlights is controlled via a light guide. All of the electronics are installed in an external control cabinet and are therefore also protected from moisture and water.
The control cabinet is supplied with a maximum cable length of 10m. Our chemical-free MD3S scores with a very low energy consumption. With a power consumption of only 39 watts and a low water consumption of approx. 0.047 m³/h. at 3 bar, savings in energy costs for electricity and waste water of up to 75% are possible compared to the hot water pool.

The MD3S was designed with as few wearing parts as possible.
There are no enormous costs such as for heating coils. The maintenance and servicing of the UV disinfection device is kept very simple.
You can replace the UV-C lamps or, if necessary, the quartz glass yourself on site. As with all our UV devices, this step is precisely documented in the operating instructions and the costs for this can be clearly calculated in advance. As with maintenance, cleaning is a simple game.
Remove lid, lather and rinse. Because the TRT systems are waterproof and the electronics are housed in an external cabinet, cleaning the MD3S is very effortless.
As with our other surface disinfection devices, the UV-C lamps have a service life of approx. 12,000 operating hours.
